To mark the beginning of Otley Walking Festival 2010, Greg Mulholland MP and Cllr Ryk Downes will be joined by Martin Rivett and Michael Fawcet as they aim to complete the new Six Dales Trail in reverse.
The group will be starting in Middleham tonight aiming to arrive in Otley for 09.00 to wave off Janet Street Porter and other walkers as they set off in the opposite direction at the official launch of the festival.
Commenting Greg said:
"I am very excited about this year's 10th Otley Walking Festival, which as ever will be a wonderful celebration of walking and our town and surrounding countryside.
"As this year is the 10th Otley Walking Festival, it will be a very special one and as a keen walker myself, I thought it would be a fitting way to help launch the festival and the new 6 Dales Trail by doing the 37 miles in reverse, to meet Janet Street Porter and the group of walkers who will be setting off from Otley on Saturday morning.
"So we will be walking through the night and will have to make sure we don't get lost so we get to Otley in time!"
