The June 16 post-election re-launch meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Paediatric Mobility saw Greg Mulholland elected as Chair and Conservative MP Paul Maynard as Vice-Chair.
Greg will be chairing the group, sponsored by the charity organisation Whizz-Kids, in its second year.
After multiple evidentiary hearings and a site visit, the group will publish a report on its findings with recommendations for NHS to improve its provision of mobility assistance equipment for children.
Commenting Greg said:
"I am very pleased to be chairing such a meaningful APPG. This APPG is about much more than just treating a condition; it is really a way to empower children and should be managed as such.
"When children endure long waits for their equipment, they risk developing more serious health problems and the equipment is often no longer appropriate by the time it is received.
"During a hearing I recently held, it became abundantly clear that measures can be taken to address these issues that will not only improve service, but ultimately cut health care costs."
