Greg Mulholland stayed up late Tuesday night to present a petition to Parliament opposing the overly ambitious housing targets of the previous Government's Regional Spatial Strategies (RSS) scheme.
516 Adel and Wharfedale residents signed the petition, declaring their belief that the targets can lead to unwanted developments, such as a proposed development for land near Holt Avenue in Adel.
Commenting Greg said:
"While the current Government has announced plans to abolish the RSS scheme, we must not let any unwanted or untenable developments slip through before those plans are put into action.
"That's why it was crucial that the more than 500 local residents who signed the petition have their opinions voiced in Parliament. They are protecting their community.
"I urge the House of Commons and the Department for Communities and Local Government to use all their powers to act quickly-get rid of RSS and set a sustainable pace for community development."
