Greg Mulholland MP said today that the Chilcot inquiry brings to light clear evidence against the previous Government's decision to go to war.
Greg, who has been a staunch and vocal opponent of Britain's military involvement in the war in Iraq, stressed the significance of the inquiry.
Commenting Greg said:
"One thing the Chilcot inquiry is confirming beyond doubt is that the previous Government did not act in our interests when taking us to war.
"While events surrounding British involvement in Iraq have been deplorable, I am heartened to see that the truth is finally being drawn out.
"Myself and my Liberal Democrat colleagues, especially Ming Campbell and Charles Kennedy, have argued this point for many years. I am glad we are now approaching an official consensus."
