Greg Mulholland, Member of Parliament for Leeds North West, today was delighted to present Asda Kwik Cricket sets to two of his constituency's primary schools.
Ireland Wood and Cookridge Primary Schools were nominated by the Yorkshire County Cricket Board to receive the Asda Kwik Cricket sets as part of the Asda Kwik Cricket Competition which is the largest grassroots initiative for any sport in the UK.
Greg Mulholland MP commented:
"It was a real pleasure to present the Asda Kwick Cricket sets to Cookridge and Ireland Wood Primary Schools today. This is a fantastic game that not only promotes health and fitness but is also a great way for children to have fun whilst learning about something that has such strong ties to their county of Yorkshire. After playing for the Commons and Lords cricket team, it was fun to test the skills against the next generation of cricketers
"I am sure that both schools will make great use of these kits and, as 12,000 schools are involved in the Asda Kwik Cricket Competition, it is an amazing opportunity for local children to compare their cricket skills with children from across the UK."
Paul Kelly, Director of Asda's External Affairs and Corporate Responsibility commented:
Asda has been working in partnership with the ECB for seven years now and we remain committed to getting more and more primary schools involved in this great competition. Kwik Cricket is a fantastic way for kids to have fun and get active and we're pleased that Greg Mulholland MP has been able to support this competition. In the run up to this summer's Olympics, there has never been a better time to encourage kids to get involved in sport."
