Greg Mulholland, Member of Parliament for Leeds North West, was delighted to open the brand new Sue Ryder Charity Shop in Headingley.
Accompanied by Sue Ryder Care representatives, as well as members of the public, Mr Mulholland was pleased to cut the ceremonial ribbon and declare the new shop open to all.
Sue Ryder - Wheatfields Hospice is a Specialist Palliative Care Unit. They enrich the quality of life of those living with, or affected by, a serious illness through the highly specialised skills of an experienced and caring team.
Greg Mulholland MP commented:
"I am delighted to have opened the new Sue Ryder shop in Headingley today. Wheatfields has long been an important part of the community in Headingley and it is fitting that the new shop, on the main road, will make even more people aware of this.
"The wonderful work that Wheatfields does is dependent on fundraising and I am sure this great new vintage and retro store will both help with that and also be very popular with local people".
Sue Ryder retail business manager Glynn Taylor commented:
"The opening of the new vintage and retro store in Headingley has been a great success. I would like to thank our staff, volunteers and shoppers for their interest and generosity.
"A heartfelt thank you goes to Greg Mulholland MP for officially opening the shop and for his kind words in support of Wheatfields Hospice and the vital services the hospice provides to the community of Leeds. Proceeds from the shop goes to help Sue Ryder continue to provide local hospice care to people living with conditions such as cancer and respiratory, cardiac or renal diseases ".
