When I signed up to take part in the Jane Tomlinson Appeal 10th Anniversary Challenge I knew that it would be gruelling, but it wasn't until the week before we set off that I really began to understand the commitment that we would need to complete it.
This mammoth 8 day challenge involved running the Paris Marathon ahead of a 6 day cycle route to London via Hull and the Jane Tomlinson Appeal's home turf of Yorkshire, then finishing off by running the London Marathon. 652 miles in 8 days!
10 years previously Jane Tomlinson CBE ran the London marathon for the first time, the first terminally ill breast cancer patient to complete it. Inspired by her example, a team of eight, including Jane's husband Mike and daughter Rebecca undertook this year's challenge. Jane's courage and determination helped us all to complete this extraordinarily testing challenge and raise many thousands of pounds for charity.
One of the other motivating factors was the support I have received from the hundreds of people who have made donations. I am enormously grateful for the generosity that they have shown.
