The Elinor Lupton Centre
Working alongside the Leeds Girls Action Group, local MP Greg Mulholland is insisting that any development that happens on the site of the Leeds Girls High School will be a good thing for Headingley and its residents.
It must include green space and playing fields as well as ruling out student accomodation and a super-pub at the Elinor Lupton Centre.
Greg has been very high profile in this campaign and has locked horns with senior councillors and the Grammar School in Leeds to fight for his constituents. He has attended public meetings and held regular meetings with the Action Group.
Greg also wrote to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Hazel Blears to demand that she makes sure that the Government does not overturn the communities wishes by allowing the development to take place.
