Local MP congratulates organisers of Cookridge Scarecrow Festival

May 2, 2017 10:07 AM

Leeds North West MP, Greg Mulholland, has congratulated the organisers of this year's Cookridge Scarecrow Festival, which was held on 30 April and 1 May.

For the third successive year, Cookridge came alive with straw figures and scenes as residents across Cookridge took part in the Scarecrow Festival, organised by the Leeds Modernians.

The family day saw visitors collect their Scarecrow Trail Map, then set off around the streets of Cookridge to find the 40 scarecrow attractions that local residents had created.

Leeds Modernians will be using money raised from the event to make donations to several local charities.

August 2015, blankCommenting Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West, said:

"This was yet another fantastic event, and a huge congratulations must go to the Leeds Modernians, and everyone involved in organising this brilliant family day out, and those who took part and brought their designs to live.

"It was great to be able to see the scarecrows whilst I was walking around Cookridge, and I am sure that the families who took part had a fantastic day.

"I look forward to next year's event, and I just hope that there isn't a General Election on this time next year, so I can fully enjoy the event!"
